Theresa May’s spokesperson hinted the prime minister would promise to step down before the next general election – even if she wins the confidence vote. Responding, Ian Murray, Labour MP and Best for Britain champion, said:
“This just adds to the chaos and confusion.
“Theresa May is clearly ready to hit the country with a hard Brexit and then do a runner, leaving the economy in turmoil.
“Rather than a Tory Party fighting among itself while careering towards Brexit, what the country needs is the opportunity to end the chaos and remain in the EU through a people’s vote.”
