New polling from the National Centre for Social Research has found Brits have “become more favourable towards Europe” in the wake of Donald Trump’s presidency.

The survey found about three-quarters of Britons (74%) now perceive the US as a serious threat to global peace, compared with just 36% in 2024 – Donald Trump was inaugurated for his second term as president on January 20 2025.

Tom Brufatto, Policy and Research Director at Best for Britain, said:

“Voters throughout the UK clearly see the political hostility and unreliability of Trump and his administration, and rightly recognise that our most vital, trusted allies continue to be our European neighbours, partners and friends.

“Our own polling has long confirmed this, demonstrating that a majority of voters view the EU as the UK’s most reliable trading partner. This not only underscores the need to deepen ties with our continent, but also signals that the UK must begin urgently paving the way to renew its EU membership.”
