In the face of geopolitical unrest, EU membership is the only path to boost the UK’s economic prosperity and ensure national security, campaigners stress.
In an address at the Labour party conference in Liverpool, foreign secretary Ed Miliband said “on economic, defence and security… our future lies in a stronger, deeper partnership with the European Union” and the UK should approach foreign policy as “proud Europeans”.
This comes as fresh MRP polling by YouGov and analysis by Best for Britain found a pledge to restore the UK’s EU membership could be the difference between a Labour-led government and a Reform UK-led government at the next election.

“Against the backdrop of an increasingly tense geopolitical landscape, a dangerous Putin and antagonistic Trump, the foreign secretary knows all too well that the UK’s economic prosperity and national security lie with our allies in Europe, back where we belong as a fully-fledged member of the EU.
“Among the sea of faithful in Liverpool, and with more than 80% of Labour voters backing UK reintegration, the time is ripe for the party leadership to take the Brexit brakes off Britain, and regain our seat at the table in Europe once more.”
