How much is Brexit really costing us? The Cost of Brexit

Full EU membership is the only way to undo economic handcuffs on manufacturers caused by Brexit, campaigners highlight.

According to new analysis by the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), UK goods exports to the European Union could have been up to £6.5 billion higher each year from 2021 to 2024 if Britain had secured a deal to prevent duplicate product testing after Brexit,

Tom Brufatto, Executive Director of Policy and Research at Best for Britain, said:

“This welcome report highlights yet more evidence of the damage caused by Brexit and compounded by Boris Johnson’s deal, that without mutual recognition British manufacturers have been trading with one hand tied behind their backs.

“However, everything points to there being little scope to further deepen UK-EU relations without revisiting the UK Government’s red lines. Only full EU membership can grow the UK economy by at least £92bn per year, and it is supported by a majority of the electorate, particularly Labour’s coalition of voters.”
