How much is Brexit really costing us? The Cost of Brexit

EU membership would give at least a £92bn economic boost to the UK economy and shore up the UK’s stagnant finances amidst Trump’s ongoing Iran war, campaigners have stressed.

Reports emerged today that Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Chancellor John Healey have been warned the UK economy will barely grow next year if disruption continues in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Prime Minister is being urged to apply his own ‘Makerfield test’ to the UK’s ”dwindling coffers” when it comes to the UK’s reintegration with the EU – and the transformative economic injection it would deliver the country.

Naomi Smith, Chief Executive at Best for Britain, said:

“As Trump’s unlawful and necessary Iran war continues to batter the global economy, the picture for the UK could not be starker: growth kneecapped, inflation climbing, and the cost of living crisis continuing to cripple households from Margate to Motherwell.

“It’s vital Andy Burnham takes action, applies his own Makerfield test to the UK’s dwindling coffers and seizes the transformative economic boost of at least £92bn that independent research found renewing our EU membership would offer the country, and polling repeatedly shows a majority of the public endorse.”
